This ain't no royalty

Yesterday I went to watch IPL's first match, between Kolkata Knight Riders and Bangalore Royal Challengers. Was really a boring and taxing experience, partly because I was on the last row and even the screen was not visible from my position and MOSTLY because of the poor show by Dravid led Royal Challengers. The opening ceremony was o.k,some found it awesome.Sachin is still a GOD as far as cricket in concerned.

Cheers for sachin coming on stage >>>>>> cheers for (whole match + other players + scantily clad cheer girls + SRK + watever reason you can find to cheer and burst your throats out)

Royal Challengers contrary to their name neither had the royalty nor a single element of challenge. The whole team looked in disarray whether it be in fielding, bowling or batting.Come to think about it Praveen Kumar was the highest scorer from their side and only one to get to double digits.Dravid could not bind the team together for a single moment and it looked dull despite being in bright red.The batsman were still in test match mode. With batsman like Dravid,Jaffer and Kallis it lacked the skills required for T20 match i.e pure hitting and nothing else.I think they could have still given some fight with young legs like Virat Kohli and Boucher too has some fantastic records at domestic levels.Alas!!.I think they were not ready at all as a team.On the other hand Knight riders looked comfortable with their skins right from the word go.I was very impressed with Ricky Pointing's commitment on the field. He definitely gives 110 %.

Loosing the match is one thing but loosing it by 140 runs is quite another. It has dampened the spirit of Bangalore cricket fans. The mass exodus started after loss of five wickets (Boucher was the fifth to go in the 8th over!!),the last thing which I saw before coming out was fall of 6th wicket.

The only saving grace was some individual performances by Knight riders players particularly Mccullum and Ishant sharma.Mccullum was ruthless with his unbeaten 158 off 73 balls which includes ten 4's and thirteen 6's .Ishant Sharma was bang on target right from the first delivery, which was just too much for Rahul Dravid to handle. His figures stood at 3 overs 7 runs and 1 wicket.Ganguly also shared some spotlight .Though not for his blistering shots through the off side but for some good roll of hands.

I was really excited for IPL but with Bangalore team not in form, there is not much reason to go to stadium to watch the match. But ya you can not stop watching it all together ;),better watch it on your television, may be the commentary will add some luster to what otherwise would be a dull, one sided match.I just hope Bangalore Royal Challenger picks up from here on and give us some good matches in future to watch. If not,I think Bangalore Royal Challengers Vs Rajasthan Royals will give us some false sense of a good match,as Shishir commented ;).

Reloaded

Much has changed since the last post on this blog, for better.. I guess.Anyways first things first - I am planning to start blogging again, this is the first step towards it,which I hope would be a continuous effort in future.

As I mentioned things have changed,it applies to the context of this blog too.Earlier when I said "desultory life " it actually meant what it is supposed to i.e purposeless life.I had an option not to claim the blog and start afresh but after thinking about it I discarded the idea.If you come to think about it,personal blogs are not geared for any particular form of communication,it just creates the world it creates i.e any thing and every thing under the sun.Hence it still is ok to carry on with same title .Now the life isn't purposeless but ya the blog still is ;).

Next post? pretty soon :)
